World Mental Health Day #HelloYellow - Friday 10th October
At Chipping Ongar Primary School, we know the mental health and wellbeing of your
children is incredibly important. The number of young people in need of mental health
support is growing faster than ever – with a record breaking 420,000 young people being
treated for mental health problems every month. Most young people aren’t getting the help they need, and this can’t go on. That’s why this year #HelloYellow is more important than ever. We wanted to make sure young people know that how they feel matters and that they deserve to feel supported!
On Friday 10th October 2025, we’ll be joining thousands of other schools by wearing yellow to show young people that how they feel matters, as well as raising vital funds to support the hard work of mental health charity ‘Young Minds’. To find out more visit https://youngminds.org.uk/.
We’d love all the children to come to school wearing something yellow to show their support.
We would also like to ask for a voluntary donation of £1, although we wholly recognise that currently there is financial pressure on families and therefore children can of course show support by wearing yellow whether or not a donation is made. Please don’t purchase anything specifically for this event; a home-made yellow badge or sticker will show support just as well as full fancy dress.
Please can we ask that you make your donation on the day by bringing your £1 contribution and handing it into the class teacher. This will then be collected and counted by our wonderful Year 6 Charities team.
So dig out your neon socks, custard scarf, banana hat or best yellow fancy dress costume – Let’s show our young people they’re not alone with their mental health!
Thank you for your continued support.
